We help refugee families rebuild their lives for a brighter future.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
– Margaret Mead
The Hyde Park Refugee Project consists of Hyde Park residents and other volunteers from Chicago’s South Side working together to resettle refugee families in our neighborhood and transition them to self-sufficiency.
On Justice and Black Lives Matter
The Hyde Park Refugee Project stands in solidarity with our Black sisters and brothers. We are committed to engaging, together, in the critical work of dismantling the systems that perpetuate violence against people of color within our community and across our nation. Safety, justice and equity are central tenants of our mission to welcome and support families who have fled their countries to escape persecution. As we walk alongside and create community with our newest neighbors, we must also join with those who are persecuted within our own borders. We believe in a future where all people, of all backgrounds and identities, can call this country home — a future where we are truly free.
